When brewing beer, rye malt in a blend with barley malt can improve foam retention, enhance mouthfeel, and introduce flavor changes in the form of caramel notes at lower doses and a spicy finish at higher doses.
Rye malt also gives the beer a reddish hue.
Rye malt has a higher content of beta-glucans, which can cause issues during lautering at higher doses. To facilitate the lautering of the beer, we recommend using rice hulls.
Try the malt in various styles, including traditional Irish reds, German Roggenbier, or in modern takes like IPA and DIPA.
