Cascade is a dual-purpose hop that can be used in all hop additions throughout the brewing process.
This hop, characterized by its citrus and often specifically grapefruit flavor, makes up about 10% of the hop harvest in the USA. Cascade also has medium-intensity floral and spicy citrus characteristics. When used as a bittering hop, it provides moderate bitterness. It is best known as the finishing hop in Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, which is considered the beer that launched the IPA and hoppy beer craze.
