Premiant was obtained through selection from hybrid offspring resulting from the crossbreeding of an inbred line of Saaz and other breeding materials. The variety was registered in 1996. It is a versatile dual-purpose variety that imparts a pleasant bitterness to beers. The aroma is herbal and fuity with a subtle floral note. Alpha acid: 7 - 10%.
