It comes from a long line that begins with the Japanese variety Eastern Gold from 1930. Subsequent crossings involved a number of different hops, including Apollo, Cascade, a male variety from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and a daughter from the open-pollinated wild hop neomexicanus.
