BEST Black Malt is roasted more intensively than BEST Chocolate and is ideal for very dark beers and Stouts, characterized by pleasant roasted flavors. Depending on the amount used in the grist, the malt creates a flavor profile in the beer ranging from bitter chocolate to strong coffee.
Despite the more intense roasting method, our gentle processing techniques prevent harsh, unpleasant bitter tones, which can be easily verified by comparing the relatively low levels of pyrazine. At the same time, the beer retains a light-colored foam. BEST Black Malt complies with the German Beer Purity Law “Reinheitsgebot.”
